2nd week

Ook in de tweede week zijn de belangrijkste bezigheden drinken en slapen om zo goed mogelijk te groeien. Dat werpt zijn vruchten af, want alle pups zijn rond de kilo. Ze worden steeds actiever en sterker en kunnen nu echt hun buikjes van de grond houden en hun eerste stapjes doen. Daardoor lukte het ook al bijna uit de werpkist te ontsnappen, wat we gauw verhinderd hebben met een extra schuif in de opening.
De pups oefenen ook actief op hun 'vocabulaire' wat nu behalve piepen, ook grommen, huilen en een soort van blaffen inhoudt. Op de 11e dag ging het eerste stel oogjes op een kiertje en in de dagen erna volgden er meer. Nog een aantal dagen en dan zullen er 5 paar mooi baby-blauwe oogjes te zien zijn!
Ook het eerste spel-gedrag is gesignaleerd (op de 13e dag). Happen in elkaar of in het vetbed, vaak gepaard met de meest schitterende geluiden! Dat belooft wat voor de komende weken!

Also in the second week, the main occupations of the pups are drinking and sleeping in order to grow as good as possible. That works out pretty well and almost all pups have reached a bodyweight around 1 kg. They become more and more active and strong. They can lift their bellies from the ground and make their first real steps. That also enabled some of the pups to try an escape from the whelping box, which has been prevented by making the opening higher.
The pups also actively practice their 'vocabulary', which also includes, aside from squeaking, growling, howling and some sort of barking. On the 11th day, the first pair of eyes opened a little and in the next days more followed. A few days more and there will be 5 pair of beautiful baby-blue eyes looking around!
The first play-behaviour is shown too (13th day). Mouthing each other or the bedding, often accompanied by the most peculiar sounds! That promises quite a lot for the coming weeks!
