Right from the start, Summer has been what we hoped for. We hoped to get a dark red merle female with a long tail and that was the first pup that was born! A great co-owner home presented itself when we're looking for suitable homes to place our two female pick puppies. We had planned to chose the best of these two girls to continue in our breeding program. While they were developing, they showed to be different, but both with a lot of qualities and talents! We couldn't choose between them as they both have so much to offer. Famy was quicker in her development and she joined our breeding program in 2007, but Summer followed close behind and proved to be of just as much quality as her sister!
Summer is a well built
female. Moderate in every way with great angulation in front and rear, a strong
topline and clean gait. She does not have tons of bone and coat such as popular
in the show rings, but still she has been placing high in FCI and ASCA shows
because of her good structure.
She has a huge will to please and is always ready to work. She is easy to
motivate and loves dogfrisbee and agility. She is one of the most agile Aussies
I have ever seen with a beautiful jumping style and she can turn on a dime. She loves
to work all kinds of stock and has started her trialing career in 2008. She has
a calm and upright working style on cattle and sheep, but uses some eye on ducks
and occasionally on light sheep. She has natural square flanks.
Her character is very energetic and open. Summer is a fun dog to have around and
is friendly towards other people, although she is slightly reserved towards
strangers.
Of course, we did all health checks and her eyes were clear, A hips, MDR1 clear/clear
and HSF4 clear/clear.
What else could we ask for?

Of course,
every dog has his minor points too. No dog is perfect. In Summer's case; she
could have some more confidence
and work a bit more independently. I also would like to get dogs that are
somewhat more open towards other dogs and people, because that is what our
densely populated community asks for. I would like to see a bit more flexibility
in the pasterns, a broader head and some more angulation in the front. I started a
thorough search for a suitable male.
I searched for a solid coloured healthy male
from working or performance lines with little health risks. He should preferably
be a good worker himself, working all kinds of stock, have high biddability and
drive for performance venues. Of course he should have a sound temperament. No
problem if he would be reserved, but never shy or
aggressive. Not to people and to other dogs. I would like a dog with power and
grit, but also with an off-switch, who could relax and hang out with his owner
on the couch. He should have functional and good structure with clean gait and
have a pleasing attitude.
Gadget's pedigree is filled with talented beautiful dogs. His
father and grandfather are well known proven working dogs and many of his
relatives are excelling in herding, agility, obedience, dogfrisbee and
conformation. Gadget is loosly line bred on WTCH Las Rocosa Kubliah Khan Crown
Point PATDcs RTDcs, owned by Kaye Harris, one of the big greats of the past. You
can see him work
here and
here.
Gadget is a very nicely structured male. He has excellent shoulder lay back and
excellent rear angulation to go with. His front and rear movement is flawless,
with very nice side gait and lots of extension. Gadget has excellent bone and a
great top line with a beautifully arched neck and croup. His head is typey and
well defined masculine, and his color is rich and correct. We feel that these dogs should compliment each other very well.
With parents who are both the complete package of talented in work and sport and
well built and beautiful, we expect a lot of their pups!
We are very excited about this cross and recommend early inquiring!
Versatile working and performance prospects in good looking
all colour packages are expected in
July 2009. Thanks to Mirjam and Maarten Walter and Silvia Heitmann for
the opportunity to breed Summer to Gadget!
I found a very suitable USA import in Germany
who complements Summer very nicely.
Gadget
is from Mirjam and Maarten Walter's Malpaso kennels and is residing temporarily
in Germany.
Malpaso kennels breeds for physical sound and intelligent dogs,
that have the talent and desire to perform in multiple venues.
Malpaso kennel is active in working stock, conformation, obedience and agility.
Gadget is very friendly and
open towards other people and dogs
and has moderate guarding instincts. He is a confident and stable dog who
adjusts easily to every situation. He is an active and driven dog who loves to work,
but can also settle at home. He is training in herding and obedience and will
probably compete in stockdog trials next year. Gadget has tons of herding
instinct with a lot of natural Aussie style. He is a quiet (calm) worker who
seldomly barks. He can be hard on his livestock and likes to hit heads and
heels. Watch him work sheep on his
webpage at Malpaso.
Gadget has passed his health checks of course. Hips and elbows normal, eyes
cleared yearly, MDR1 free and HSF4 free. He is a smaller male; 53cm.
